Use your Mac as a tablet

Alone brings the Mac desktops together in a mirrored arrangement so you can work from the tablet as your main screen. It does not turn off physical Mac or monitor panels. Extend and Mirror also work with a linked Controller.

With Natural, tap to click, move one finger to scroll and two fingers to drag. Hold until the ring fills to drag with one finger when Hold to drag is enabled. Pen input remains available. Use the phone’s touchpad whenever you prefer a pointer.

Use with screen links the Controller to a private Android screen in Extend, Mirror or Alone. A Room is a separate sharing workflow. The Controller can itself be a phone or tablet; this guide uses a tablet for the picture and a phone for typing.

To remove the link, choose None in Use with screen on the Mac. You can keep using the Controller independently.

On the tablet, open the floating panel and its Touch tab. The keyboard status and Use keyboard here sit below the Keyboard setting. Choose Use keyboard here to request the keyboard for the tablet; it opens once the Mac grants the request.

Set the Controller’s Keyboard to Never if you only want a touchpad beside the screen. The tablet then keeps its own Automatic or Manual keyboard setting.

If the phone disconnects or the link ends, the tablet regains its keyboard automatically. Its Automatic or Manual preference is preserved.

If the linked screen becomes unavailable, the Controller pauses input for that screen. Restore the screen, or choose Use without linked screen on the Controller to continue independently.
