Use a phone or tablet as a Controller

One finger moves the pointer from its current position. Lift and place your finger again to keep moving. Tap to click; tap with two fingers to right-click. With Hold to drag enabled, hold until the ring fills, move to drag and lift to release.

Move two fingers together to scroll. Pinch to zoom and twist to rotate in apps that support them. Three- and four-finger swipes follow your Mac’s trackpad settings. Choose the action in macOS, not in Decky.

Automatic opens the keyboard when a Mac text field has focus. Always keeps it ready outside text fields too. Never makes this device a touchpad: it disables typing, including from an attached hardware keyboard, and a linked screen keeps its own keyboard.

Use the keyboard button to show or hide the on-screen keyboard when available. If the keyboard leaves too little pad space, hide it to regain space. The Modifier keys switch controls whether the modifier row is shown.

Open Settings on the Controller for Pointer speed, Scroll speed, Scroll inertia and Hold to drag. These choices belong to this device’s Controller mode. The Touch settings on a device showing the Mac picture are separate.

Scroll at the right edge and Scroll at the bottom edge are separate switches, both off by default. Enable the right strip for vertical scrolling or the bottom strip for horizontal scrolling.

Where your finger starts decides its action until you lift it. A finger that starts on the pad keeps pointing when it crosses into a strip; one that starts in a strip keeps scrolling. If there is too little pad space, the setting explains why the strip is absent. It returns automatically when space is available.

You can leave another phone or tablet connected as a Controller. Touch its pad to take over; one Controller at a time controls the Mac. Reconnecting pauses input until the connection is ready again. Choose Stop in the Controller’s top bar to end the session.
