Create a spare desktop
Make a desktop with no physical screen behind it.
Step by step
- Open Decky’s menu bar and find Spare desktops. Create a desktop at the size you need.
- Open its preview window on the Mac to see it and work with its contents. Move an app window onto it as you would onto another display.
- Keep it for a separate workspace, or select it as the screen to show in a Room when sharing is available.
What to know
Spare desktops are free and do not need a connected tablet. They are distinct from using a device as a second monitor. Their resolution does not have to match hardware you own.
If it does not work
If a window seems lost, open the spare desktop’s preview and check Screens for its position. Move work back to another display before removing a desktop.
