Share and arrange two sources

Add a second screen or window, choose a layout and swap the pictures in a Room or Decky Desktop.

Loading

Press + after sharing the first source. Choose a second window, display or spare desktop. Both names appear in the Room’s source list.

Step by step

  1. On the host Mac, start a Room with the first screen or window. Press + beside Stop sharing and choose the second source. For a spare desktop, choose Share with the Room in its menu. You can combine two displays, two windows, a display and a window, or two spare desktops.
  2. Join the Room in Decky Display on Mac or Android. With two sources present, open the screen controls and find Layout. Choose Auto, Side by side, Stacked, Corner or One only. Each viewer changes only their own view.
  3. Use Swap to change the order. In Corner, it exchanges the large and small pictures; choose one of the four corner buttons to place the small picture. In One only, Swap shows the other source. Return to a two-picture layout whenever you need both.

What to know

Two sources belong to a Room or Decky Desktop. A normal display session still shows one desktop. The pictures keep their original proportions: unused space can appear as black bars. Hiding a picture in your own view does not remove it from the Room.

What each layout does

Auto chooses between side by side and stacked to give the pictures the most space. Side by side puts them next to each other; Stacked puts one above the other. Corner is picture-in-picture, with one small picture over the other. One only shows the first source in your chosen order. Swap changes that order in every layout. Nothing is cropped to fill the screen.

Use both sources in Decky Desktop

On the presenting Mac, choose your first source under Decky Desktop. Press + beside Stop to add another. Use the layout buttons and Swap in that same card, then select Decky Desktop in your call app’s camera picker on the same Mac.

Unlike a Room, this produces one combined camera picture. Everyone in the call sees your arrangement; they cannot independently rearrange the sources. FaceTime, Teams and WhatsApp work with Decky Desktop. Choose your microphone separately and check text readability with someone watching.

Annotate and control

In a Room, drawing permission applies to both sources. Host, Mac and Android viewers can annotate either picture; marks stay attached to their source when you change the layout. Android supports touch and compatible pressure-sensitive pens. Marks fade by default.

Permission to annotate does not grant Mac control. Only one Room viewer controls the Mac at a time. Touch and pointer input go to the picture you use. In Decky Desktop, host annotations on either source are included in the camera picture.

Replace or remove a source

A Room or Decky Desktop holds up to two sources. Adding another when two are already active replaces the second source and keeps the first. The host’s source list shows what is being shared. Use a source’s × to remove it. With one source left, the remaining picture fills the available space while keeping its proportions.

If it does not work

If only one picture appears, check that the host added a second source and that your layout is not One only. Update Decky and Decky Display on both ends. If + is absent, start sharing first; a Room carrying another device’s screen does not offer this second-source picker. If text looks small, try One only, Swap or a larger source window.
