Start with Decky on the source Mac and Decky Display on the receiving Mac. On the same local network, select the source and complete pairing before using its desktop. This example then shows Extend and Mirror.

Step by step

  1. Install Decky on the Mac supplying the desktop. Install Decky Display on the Mac or PC receiving it.
  2. Open both apps on the same local network. Select the source Mac in Decky Display and complete pairing.
  3. Choose Use as display on the source Mac. Use Extend or Mirror, then view the result in the receiving computer’s Decky Display window or full screen.
  1. Install Decky on the PC supplying the desktop. Install Decky Display on the Mac or PC receiving it.
  2. Open both apps on the same private network. Select the PC in Decky Display, type the code from the Pair a device window, and choose Approve on the PC.
  3. On the PC, click the Decky icon in the notification area and choose Extend or Mirror for that computer. View the result in Decky Display’s window or full screen.

What to know

The apps have different jobs, even on two Macs: the source computer shares its screen from Decky, and the receiving computer shows it in Decky Display, which is free. If both computers run Decky, Decky Link can open Decky Display on the other one for you.

If both computers run Decky, link them once with Link with another Decky in the Decky Link card. Afterwards, Use as display → Extend or Mirror opens Decky Display on the other computer for you.

If it does not work

If the computers cannot find each other, follow the local-network guide. Check Screen Recording permission on the source Mac if the connection works but the picture does not.

If the computers cannot find each other, follow the local-network guide. A window-sized desktop and the window list need a Mac as the source.
