Connections & pairing
Connect over the local network
Find your Mac over Wi-Fi or a wired local network.
Step by step
- Open Decky on the source Mac and Decky Display on the other device. Connect both to the same local network; the Mac can use Ethernet.
- In Decky Settings → Connection, check that WiFi is enabled. In Security, enable Let devices find this Mac if you want it to appear automatically.
- Select the Mac in Decky Display and complete pairing. Keep both devices awake while checking the connection.
What to know
The display connection does not require internet access. Guest networks may isolate devices even when the network name is the same. Pairing does not encrypt the connection; use a network you trust.
If it does not work
If discovery fails, check whether a VPN or network isolation prevents local communication. Use the Mac address shown in Security for a manual connection, and make sure any custom port matches on both ends.
