Pairing and trust
Your own devices, and everybody else's
A device is either one you added yourself or one that walked in on today's Room code, and Decky never confuses the two. Nothing on your network reaches your Mac just by finding it.
Pair once, with a code on both ends
Confirm an eight-digit code and the device is yours: remembered across restarts, and in the menu bar list whether it is here right now or not.
Your own tablet never asks twice
It takes a display and drives the Mac without a prompt every time. You already said yes, once, when you added it.
A guest gets in on the Room code alone
No pairing, no prompt. Putting the code on screen is the yes, and nothing interrupts you on the Mac while you are presenting.
But driving is a different question
The Room code gets somebody in to watch and no further. Anybody who wants the pointer has to ask for it, the request appears on your Mac, and you accept or refuse.
And you can take the pointer back
Control is held by one viewer at a time and only the Mac decides who. Take it back, hand it to somebody else, or remove a viewer from the Room entirely.
Nobody stays trusted afterwards
What the Room code granted lasts exactly as long as the Room, and none of it is written down. The people who needed to see something today cannot reach your Mac next Tuesday.
