It comes back the way you left it
Set your screens where you want them once, and that is where they are the next time. Nothing has to be dragged back into place because a tablet reconnected, and nothing has to be rebuilt because you carried the laptop to a different desk.
Remembered per desk
Laptop alone, laptop with the tablet, laptop with the monitor as well: each is its own layout, and the one matching what is plugged in right now comes back by itself.
Settings per device, both ways
Resolution, refresh rate and rotation belong to each device. Change one on the Mac or on the tablet and the other end has it, and setting up a phone leaves the tablet exactly as it was.
Windows land where you left them
macOS does not meet a brand-new monitor every time the tablet comes back, so the windows you left on that screen are still on it.
Set a device up before it arrives
Edit a device that is nowhere near you. What you chose is waiting for it the next time it connects, which is exactly when you knew what you wanted.
Every device you have ever used
The list keeps them whether they are here or not, most recent first, so a tablet in a drawer is still something you can configure or remove.
Plug it in and it is already right
Nothing to choose when a tablet comes back. The resolution and the rotation it had are applied by the time the picture appears.
