Play your computer’s sound on the device

Send the computer’s sound to a device. On a Mac, a device can also be a separate audio output.

On the Mac, open Decky Settings → Audio and enable Send system audio to the tablet. Sound is off by default.

Step by step

  1. On the Mac, open Decky Settings → Audio and enable Send system audio to the tablet. Sound is off by default.
  2. Choose whether audio mirrors the Mac or uses separate device outputs. Mirroring works without installing an audio driver.
  3. For separate outputs, install the Decky Audio driver from Audio settings. Select the device in macOS Sound settings or an app’s output picker. Adjust listening volume on the device.
  1. Connect a trusted device and start Extend or Mirror. The PC’s sound plays on the device as well as on the PC.
  2. Turn it on or off on the device with Sound here in the floating panel, under The computer’s sound.
  3. Adjust the listening volume on the device.

What to know

System audio works over USB or the local network. The audio driver is also used by Microphone; it is one shared installation.

On Windows, the device plays the PC’s whole sound, with no driver to install. Separate outputs for each device are coming to Windows as a free update. Sound in a Room needs Decky on a Mac.

If it does not work

Check mute and volume on the device, the selected Mac output and whether sound is enabled. If separate outputs are missing, inspect the driver status in Audio and use Reinstall when offered.
