Displays & desktops

Use another Mac as a display

Run Mac apps on one computer and view them on another.

Loading

Start with Decky on the source Mac and Decky Display on the receiving Mac. On the same local network, select the source and complete pairing before using its desktop. This example then shows Extend and Mirror.

Step by step

  1. Install Decky on the Mac supplying the desktop. Install Decky Display on the Mac receiving it.
  2. Open both apps on the same local network. Select the source Mac in Decky Display and complete pairing.
  3. Choose Use as display on the source Mac. Use Extend or Mirror, then view the result in the receiving Mac’s Decky Display window or full screen.

What to know

The apps have different jobs even though both run on macOS. The receiving Mac runs Decky Display for free; the source Mac’s licence determines the available display features.

If it does not work

If the Macs cannot find each other, follow the local-network guide. Check Screen Recording permission on the source Mac if the connection works but the picture does not.
