Set up your first display

Choose the right app for each device and put your computer’s desktop on another screen.

Install Decky on the Mac that supplies the desktop and Decky Display on the Android tablet that will show it.

Step by step

  1. Install Decky on the Mac that supplies the desktop. Install Decky Display on the device that will show it: an Android device, another Mac or a Windows PC. The download page lists the available apps.
  2. Open both apps. For a network connection, put both devices on the same local network. Direct USB is an option for Android.
  3. Select the Mac in Decky Display and complete pairing. In Decky on the Mac, choose Use as display for the device, then choose Extend or Mirror.
  1. On the PC that supplies the desktop, run Decky Setup from your regular Windows account and approve the administrator prompt. Install Decky Display on the device that will show it: an Android device, a Mac or another Windows PC.
  2. Open both apps. Decky waits in the notification area, beside the clock or under the arrow for hidden icons. For a network connection, keep both devices on the same private network. Direct USB is an option for supported Android devices.
  3. Select the PC in Decky Display, type the code from the Pair a device window, then choose Approve on the PC. A new device shows the PC’s screen in Mirror. To give it a desktop of its own, click the Decky icon and choose Extend for the device under Devices.

What to know

The Mac needs macOS 14.0 or later. Android needs version 8.0 or later. Decky Air is a separate AirPlay receiver; it is not the display app for this setup.

The PC needs Windows 11 on an x64 processor. Android needs version 8.0 or later. Decky Air is a separate AirPlay receiver; it is not the display app for this setup.

If it does not work

If the Mac is missing, follow the connection guide. If it connects but shows no desktop, check Screen Recording permission on the Mac.

If the PC is missing, follow the connection guide. If Extend does not start, choose Repair installation… in Decky’s Settings → Maintenance.
